Mid-Year CLEAN UP!

Middle of the Year...
That time when we reflect   redo  CLEAN UP..
the classroom that began so neat & clean,
IS NOW A MESS!

I set my year-long goals based on quarters.

1st quarter :  routines, centers, tools, phonics / basic math skills
2nd quarter :  writing complete sentences, independent center rotations, reading (levels 6-8)
3rd quarter : writing topic sentences with details, addition/subtraction to 20, reading to level 12
4th quarter :  writing informational reports, place value mastery, reading to level 18

Now this is Basic...I have detailed goals for each quarter,
but these are the highlights.
My district gives rewards hands me a pacing guide for BOTH ELA & MATH.
I also have a required curriculum for BOTH ELA & MATH.
So...I get to "facilitate" the "differentiation" of both for "integration".
WOW! That sounded good...I need to remember that.

So...during my REFLECTION Process....I NEED to ORGANIZE!
I LOVE...LOVE...LOVE  independent centers!
We do MUST DO's & MAY DO's.
They complete each activity, do the required accountability task, and MOVE ON!

I have centers in tubs, in baggies...multiple activities in each tub.
PROBLEM....Tubs get messy, pieces not put back into baggies, tubs not stacked neatly!
UGH!
Here is PROOF!
Writing Center
Papers disorganized, unlabeled, MESSY!

Center tubs...ICKY!

Book Boxes...overstuffed....

So what do we do??
REORGANIZE!!!

Not just MY job...ALL  of us...kiddos TOO!
We ALL live here...we ALL help!
So ...this week (Mid Year), is reorganization week!
Time to unstuff, declutter, and reorganize EVERYTHING!
Kids are excited.
They always want to be a  part of the SOLUTION.
Get them excited about the reorganization...so we ALL can keep it that way!
Happy Cleaning!
I'll post AFTER clean-up pictures...next week!
Hopefully! :)

2015 One Word Resolution

I detest, hate  do NOT like making New Year's resolutions!
I am totally NOT GOOD AT IT!
I know...FAILURE! :(
Who wants to relive that each day?
NOT ME!
So... how about a word..
ONE WORD
to remind myself to SUCCEED!
SO .. I am linking up with
CaseyJane from Wiggling Scholars..
She is part of the INCREDIBLE BLOGGERS @
Primary Powers

From  CaseyJane:
"Like many, I feel like I'm setting myself up for failure, making a to-do list, or cheating by choosing things I knew will be easy. A few years ago I came across a great idea to reduce your expectations and increase your success. I use a one-word resolution. That's right, all of the things I need to do can usually be summed up in one word."

So..my friends...here is my ONE WORD

YES!  BREATHE!
Now I know you will breathe...BUT I MEAN..
BREATHE!
Take a step back, breathe in deep calming breaths, and RELAX!
Calm the body, mind, & spirit.
NOW...look at what is going on with a new "view".
A relaxed, positive, and enjoyable VIEW.
SO...as  FAITH HILL

( love me some country music)
 tells us,

"JUST  BREATHE!"

Happy New Year!  :)

Classroom this week...

Crazy Week!

Fog, then wind & rain...Report cards...Christmas activities!
WOW!
We have been working hard on our place value snowmen!

They sorted, counted, & glued their little FRIEND together.
This came from here:

I got these from IKEA!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE  them!
Look how they fit right under the table!
And the kids LOVE them!

We made reindeer!
Trace their foot ( face ), trace their hands ( antlers ), red nose , & eyes!
TOO CUTE!

And Lastly...
Rainy days mean we get out the blocks, legos, & building cubes!
MY kiddos have so much fun!
The girls LOVE building.
They want it to rain EVERY DAY...
Ummm...no thank you...NOT EVERY DAY! :)

How was YOUR WEEK???
